A IntelliChief Case Study

Smith & Wesson Aims for the Best Paperless Solution OnTarget

Smith & Wesson, a global manufacturer of firearms and related products, faced a heavy paper burden—about 75% of orders arrived by fax and many documents were printed, duplicated and filed to meet SOX and distribution requirements. To reduce paper, speed approvals and improve document retrieval, the company selected IntelliChief (deployed with Quadrant’s FastFax and Formtastic) to integrate with its Infor System 21 running on an IBM System i 520.

IntelliChief routed faxed and emailed orders into electronic inboxes, captured EDI and scanned hard copies, and linked all images to System 21 so users could view complete order, shipment and invoice records on-screen. As a result, Smith & Wesson eliminated most printed faxes and routine scanning, sped invoice approvals and audit responses (invoices can be emailed to auditors), cut postage and storage needs, and gave distribution and field sales instant visibility—delivering significant time, paper and cost savings with IntelliChief.
