Provincial Ministry of Environment Achieved ISO 14001 with Intelex Environmental Management Software

Saskatchewan Environment, the provincial Ministry of Environment, needed to attain ISO 14001 certification and implement an EMS to manage its provincial Forestry Program. Key challenges included centralizing compliance documentation for 115 staff across the province, tracking and monitoring environmental impacts, and ensuring time-sensitive tasks were completed on schedule.

They implemented the Intelex Environmental Management System—emphasizing Document Control, Measuring & Monitoring, Incident Reporting, Nonconformances/CAPA and Communications—supported by strong technical support and automated email notifications. As a result they achieved ISO 14001 in October 2003, consolidated province-wide documentation for secure, up-to-date access, built goal-tracking into the system, improved task completion and audit readiness, and gained a scalable solution for future needs.
