The City of St. Albert, Alberta’s fifth-largest municipality with over 1,000 employees serving ~65,000 residents, needed an integrated management system to achieve ISO 14001 certification and boost operational efficiency. Much of its environmental and safety data lived on paper, disparate spreadsheets and siloed systems, making document control, reporting and audit readiness slow, inconsistent and resource-intensive.
Working with Intelex, the City implemented a centralized web-based EHS platform to automate document control, incident reporting and training management, standardize data, and increase visibility. The solution drove an 80% reduction in nonconformances in Transit and Public Works, cut audit labor (78% in Transit, 61% in Public Works), saved about $14,000 annually, enabled ISO 14001 certification in under two years, and now manages training for 1,000+ employees with real-time, audit-ready reporting.
