Frederick Health Image-Enables Patient Portal

Frederick Memorial Healthcare System, serving the Frederick, Maryland region through three hospitals and numerous practices, faced a time‑consuming, costly imaging workflow that relied on physical CDs—more than 1,500 burned each month—forcing patients to pick up discs or wait for mail and creating compatibility headaches for referring clinicians. To modernize access, Frederick partnered with Intelerad to extend cloud-based image sharing via its InteleShare platform and the “Access My Images” patient portal feature.

Intelerad implemented InteleShare to image-enable the patient portal, giving patients access to studies within two hours of an exam and the ability to view, download, and securely forward images to providers. Within three months the portal recorded nearly 900 patient logins and CD production dropped by hundreds per month; the deployment also added 16 community gateways, integrated with NextGen EMR, reduced on-site PACS needs, and improved clinician collaboration and patient peace of mind.
