Ambra Health Provides Instantaneous Access to Donor & Recipient Imaging for National Kidney Registry

The National Kidney Registry (NKR) coordinates living-kidney transplants across 80 transplant centers and was routinely delayed by slow imaging transfers — donor CTs often arrived on CD and took over 10 days to reach transplant centers, risking cancelled match chains and lost OR/surgeon time. To address this, NKR partnered with Intelerad and adopted Intelerad’s cloud-based medical imaging exchange solution to enable secure, real-time sharing of donor and recipient imaging.

Intelerad deployed a SaaS web uploader and PACS gateway that interoperates with existing systems, going live in about a day. As a result, imaging transfer time dropped from 10 days to minutes, coordinators saved roughly 1,400 hours per year, match cancellations were reduced, and transplant teams could review studies much earlier—improving match speed and patient care across NKR’s network of centers and more than 2,000 matched donors.
