Meadows Behavioral Healthcare, an inpatient Level One psychiatric facility, sought to help a group of eight patients reset their nervous systems and address severe trauma-related behaviors and emotional responses, including anxiety, PTSD, and autonomic dysregulation. To support this, they partnered with vendor Integrated Listening Systems to implement the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP).
Integrated Listening Systems' SSP was delivered in a group setting over five consecutive days. The solution resulted in patients becoming more present and exhibiting a significant decrease in symptoms such as agitation, depression, anxiety, and sound sensitivities. Measurable impacts included more coherent and organized brainwaves, with one patient showing a significant decrease in anxiety-related beta waves and another showing a reduction in dissociation-related theta waves. Following the observed benefits, Meadows Behavioral Healthcare now runs this SSP delivery model weekly.
