Zöld-Liget Kindergarten identifies up to 65% CO2e savings with Integrated Environmental Solutions

Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) worked with Zöld-Liget Kindergarten, a facility in Budapest with poor energy performance from significant heat loss and an inefficient heating system. The challenge was to analyze the building for retrofits, but this was complicated by a lack of clear patterns in the heating energy usage due to a faulty control system.

Using its ICL Digital Twin technology and the iSCAN platform, IES created a calibrated model of the building. This digital twin was used to simulate various retrofit options, including a plug-and-play envelope system and a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery unit. The analysis by IES identified potential control issues causing energy waste and showed that the retrofits could achieve up to 65% CO2e savings while also improving indoor air quality and maintaining occupant comfort.
