Yarra Valley Water achieves 5 Star Green Star and 61% lower emissions with Integrated Environmental Solutions

The customer, Yarra Valley Water, sought to optimize the performance and energy efficiency of their new three-storey headquarters extension to achieve a 5 Star Green Star rating. To meet this challenge, designers at GHD utilized the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) from the vendor, Integrated Environmental Solutions.

Using the IESVE tools, Integrated Environmental Solutions enabled the development of a cost-effective, integrated solution. This included a high-performance building envelope, TermoDeck hollowcore slabs, and an underfloor displacement ventilation system. The results were highly successful, with the building achieving an energy consumption of 80.8 kwh/m²/year and carbon emissions of 58kg of CO₂/m²/year, which is almost 61% less than Australian best practice.
