The customer, WSP, was tasked with designing a thermal plant for Sydney’s large-scale Central Park mixed-use development. To meet the project's sustainability goals and determine the optimal system configuration, WSP utilized the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) from vendor Integrated Environmental Solutions.

Integrated Environmental Solutions' solution involved creating a detailed 3D virtual model of the entire development to accurately simulate its thermal demands. This analysis led to the implementation of a single, highly efficient Central Thermal Plant using a tri-generation system. The results included a 20% gain in efficiency, a significant reduction in required equipment, and estimated savings of 136,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent greenhouse gas emissions over 25 years.
