Walt Disney World Resort McDonalds Restaurant designs net-zero quick-service build with Integrated Environmental Solutions

Integrated Environmental Solutions' customer, the Walt Disney World Resort McDonald's Restaurant, faced the challenge of designing the first net-zero energy quick-service restaurant in the U.S., a particularly difficult goal due to the building's high energy intensity from 24/7 kitchen operations.

Using the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE), Integrated Environmental Solutions enabled a detailed energy analysis to model a complex hybrid HVAC system, optimize passive strategies like natural ventilation, and accurately schedule high-energy kitchen equipment. This resulted in a successful net-zero energy design for the high-volume restaurant, which is now pursuing Zero Energy Certification and will serve as a global learning hub for McDonald's sustainability efforts.
