Van Boerum & Frank Associates creates Utah’s first net-zero electrical school building with Integrated Environmental Solutions

Van Boerum & Frank Associates, a consulting engineering firm, was challenged with designing the first Net-Zero electrical school building in Utah for Odyssey Elementary School, which also targeted LEED Gold certification. They needed to find software capable of accurately modeling their proposed complex, energy-saving HVAC system. They turned to the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) from Integrated Environmental Solutions.

Using Integrated Environmental Solutions' IESVE software, the firm was able to successfully model their intricate HVAC design and perform daylighting analysis. This validated the design and enabled the implementation of energy-saving strategies. As a result, the 84,000 sq. ft. school became the first Net-Zero electrical school building in Utah and achieved LEED Gold certification, operating as the most environmentally advanced school in the state.
