UCSF Health Helen Diller Hospital cuts greenhouse gas emissions 90% with Integrated Environmental Solutions

The customer, UCSF Health Helen Diller Hospital, had the ambitious challenge of designing a state-of-the-art healthcare facility that would meet its high-performance building design and sustainability goals, including a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2045. To help achieve this, the vendor, Integrated Environmental Solutions, had its IESVE simulation software used by engineering firms Mazzetti and Arup for detailed performance analysis.

Integrated Environmental Solutions' IESVE software was used to perform advanced energy modeling and analytics, which informed critical design choices for the mechanical systems. This included streamlining load calculation workflows, conducting parametric analyses of façade designs, and modeling an all-electric central plant. The solution resulted in significant operational energy savings, the creation of a scalable model for future electrified hospital buildings, and the project is on track to achieve LEED Gold Certification, setting a new industry benchmark for sustainable healthcare facilities.
