Case Study: Shanghai Research Institute of Building Science achieves BREEAM Outstanding with Integrated Environmental Solutions

Shanghai Research Institute of Building Science - Customer Case Study

Shanghai Research Institute of Building Science (SRIBS) worked on the Living Lattice Building, the flagship Franshion Green Building Exhibition Centre in Changsha, and needed to complete life cycle assessment calculations to earn credits under BREEAM International New Construction 2013. They used Integrated Environmental Solutions’ IES Virtual Environment with the VE IMPACT Compliant Suite to analyze material choices and environmental performance while also considering capital and life cycle costs.

Integrated Environmental Solutions’ IMPACT tool was integrated with the existing IES VE workflow, making LCA analysis straightforward and enabling SRIBS to combine it with daylighting, solar shading, energy, and BREEAM assessments. The result was China’s first BREEAM Outstanding certification and the first project in the world certified under BREEAM International New Construction 2013, along with the Golden Award for Sustainable Built Environment in 2013.
