A Integrated Environmental Solutions Case Study
Queen Margaret University of Edinburgh commissioned Integrated Environmental Solutions to address a performance gap in its sustainably-designed campus. The challenge was that the operational performance of its buildings had drifted over time, creating inefficiencies and a disparity between the original design intent and actual energy use.
Integrated Environmental Solutions implemented its IES Live platform to create a live digital twin of the university's estate. This solution synchronized physics-based simulation with real BMS data to identify inefficiencies, leading to the discovery of potential annual energy cost savings of approximately £64,000. Key opportunities included improving boiler efficiency and optimizing free cooling, providing the university with an evidence-based roadmap for both immediate savings and long-term decarbonisation.
