NHS predicts 65% CO2 reduction with Integrated Environmental Solutions digital twins

The NHS, through its NHS Estates division, faced the challenge of decarbonizing its extensive portfolio of healthcare buildings. To explore a scalable solution, it engaged Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) to conduct a proof of concept using their IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) to create digital twins.

Integrated Environmental Solutions developed calibrated digital twins for several representative hospital buildings. These models were used to simulate various energy conservation measures and create a net-zero roadmap. The results predicted a 65% reduction in total CO2 emissions from the implemented measures, demonstrating to the NHS a highly effective and replicable strategy for estate-wide decarbonization.
