Nanyang Technological University cuts campus energy use by 31% with Integrated Environmental Solutions

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) sought to optimize the performance of its large 250-hectare EcoCampus and identify the best energy reduction technologies for deployment. To meet this challenge, NTU partnered with Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) to utilize its technology for high-level visualization, energy auditing, and detailed simulation.

Integrated Environmental Solutions implemented a two-phase solution. They first created a highly accurate 3D campus model for an energy audit, which uncovered potential savings. In the second phase, they built calibrated Digital Twins for 21 buildings. This process simulated improvements and identified operational faults. The results were significant, with Phase 1 revealing 10% energy savings worth $3.9 million and Phase 2 uncovering a simulated 31% average energy savings with $4.7 million in cost savings.
