MetroHealth achieves LEED Silver with Integrated Environmental Solutions, delivering 54% carbon savings

MetroHealth, a healthcare provider, faced the challenge of designing a new 750,000 sqft acute care hospital that was both high-performing and sustainable, aiming for LEED Silver certification. The complexity of the building posed significant modeling challenges, particularly for its HVAC systems. Integrated Environmental Solutions provided its IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) software to the design firm HGA to address these challenges.

Using the IESVE's tools, including the ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G navigator and ApacheHVAC, the team streamlined the design process. The solution enabled them to visualize system performance and use a single model for both load calculations and energy modeling. Integrated Environmental Solutions' technology helped the project achieve LEED Silver certification, resulting in 36% site energy savings, 54% carbon emissions reduction, and $434,500 in energy cost savings.
