Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA achieves low net energy design with Integrated Environmental Solutions despite high cooling loads

Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA, a college in Malaysia, faced the challenge of high cooling loads in its Dewan Darul Takzim Hall due to its location in a hot and humid climate zone. The college utilized software from Integrated Environmental Solutions, the IESVE, to model the hall's thermal comfort and passive design as part of a graduate project, with the objective of improving its air-conditioning load and system efficiency.

Integrated Environmental Solutions' software was used to implement energy conservation measures. This included improving the building envelope with higher thermal resistance materials to decrease heat gains and installing a VAV control fan on the existing CAV system. The result was a successful low net energy building design achieved despite the high cooling loads, significantly reducing the building's cooling load and energy use intensity (EUI).
