KEO Consultants saves 35% of operating costs with Integrated Environmental Solutions

The customer, KEO Consultants, faced the challenge of accurately modeling the innovative and intricate architectural, electrical, and mechanical design of the 240m high Capital Markets Authority Tower in Kuwait. The complexity of the building, including its intricate façade and 1,500 thermal zones, pushed the limits of conventional modeling software and hardware. KEO turned to Integrated Environmental Solutions and its IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) software to meet this challenge.

Integrated Environmental Solutions' IESVE enabled the KEO team to seamlessly integrate and simulate all aspects of the tower's design. Using applications like ModelIT, SunCast, and Apache, they performed a parametric analysis for the 3,700 shading panels to find the optimal balance between cooling load and daylight savings. This solution is estimated to save the client 35% of operating costs during peak summer. The resultant savings exceeded what was expected from District Cooling, and the BIM-IES integration approach also saved circa 20% of the time resourced for energy modeling.
