ISC Consulting Engineers A/S used Integrated Environmental Solutions’ IESVE software to tackle a demanding offshore substation design challenge: meeting strict temperature requirements in transformer and machinery rooms while managing high internal heat loads and complex marine weather conditions. The work covered multiple North Sea projects, including Northwind, Innogy Nordsee Ost, and Gode Wind, where natural ventilation had to be designed for specific offshore locations.
Using Integrated Environmental Solutions’ IESVE for dynamic simulations, CFD analysis, and site-specific weather data, ISC optimized ventilation opening sizes and façade/roof openings to control temperatures effectively. The solution met all temperature requirements, including keeping the hottest month’s monthly average below 30°C in one project, while also validating temperature performance at specific heights and improving client communication through clear visualization.
