HLM Architects, an innovative architecture practice, needed to verify the thermal comfort and daylight performance of a large-scale residential design to ensure it would perform well across multiple UK locations. They used the IESVE software from Integrated Environmental Solutions to analyze their original design against a proposed value engineering alternative that claimed to offer better performance and cost savings.

Using IESVE, HLM conducted comprehensive overheating and daylight analyses, leveraging built-in TM59 templates to save significant time. The solution proved their original design outperformed the alternative, achieving Spatial Daylight Autonomy (sDA) targets across all orientations. Integrated Environmental Solutions' tools enabled minor refinements, such as adding shading, which resulted in a superior, more visually appealing design that balanced performance with aesthetics.
