Guildford Borough Council targets 20% CO2 reduction with Integrated Environmental Solutions

The customer, Guildford Borough Council, had a mandate to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from new developments. They engaged vendor Integrated Environmental Solutions and used their IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) software, including the IMPACT CostPlan tool, to perform a capital cost analysis. The challenge was to determine the financial feasibility of increasing their CO2 reduction targets beyond the initial 10% goal.

Integrated Environmental Solutions implemented a solution using a detailed BIM model within IESVE to calculate construction costs and assess the viability of higher emission reduction targets. This 5D BIM approach intelligently linked cost information to the model. The result was that Guildford Borough Council, based on the report, proposed a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions for most new developments in its consultation documents.
