Galliera Hospital reduces campus energy by 5.57% with Integrated Environmental Solutions

Galliera Hospital, a hospital in Genoa, embarked on an ambitious campus renovation project to meet the city's Sustainable Energy Action Plan target of reducing CO2 emissions. Their challenge was to masterplan the energy-efficient renovation of their 60km² campus, which included a new hospital building and surrounding facilities, and to optimize the integration of renewable technologies into its energy network.

Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) addressed this by creating a detailed virtual model of the campus using its VE software for masterplanning and its iVN solution for energy network modelling. Utilizing real operational data and BIM, IES simulated the campus's energy use and proved that the proposed renovations, including a new CHP station and distributed energy resources, would achieve a 5.57% reduction in campus energy consumption, equating to 1073.6 MWh/Yr saved.
