Eindhoven University of Technology uses Integrated Environmental Solutions’ IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) as a primary teaching tool in its Master of Science programs, including Building Physics and Services, Sustainable Energy Technology, and the post-master program Smart Energy Buildings and Cities. The university needed a simulation platform that could balance flexibility, ease of use, and strong modelling capabilities for classroom teaching and research.

Integrated Environmental Solutions implemented IESVE to support weekly simulation assignments, starting with validation and transient heat transfer exercises and then expanding into advanced topics such as double-skin façades, occupant behavior, shading control, and electrochromic windows. The solution is introduced to around 70 students annually and helps them build skills for designing cost-effective net-zero energy buildings, including through coupling IESVE with the SAM renewable energy system simulation program.
