A Integrated Environmental Solutions Case Study
The customer, ecoMECH ENGINEERING, was tasked with performing energy modelling and life cycle cost analysis for the refurbishment of a 100-year-old museum. Their challenge was to suggest design improvements to minimize energy use while maintaining the strict environmental controls required for preserving valuable historical artifacts. They used the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) from Integrated Environmental Solutions to meet this challenge.
Using IESVE, ecoMECH ENGINEERING simulated thermal and infiltration loads to create a realistic building profile. One key solution proposed was the addition of insulation to an existing exhibition undercroft. This solution, modeled and analyzed with Integrated Environmental Solutions' software, is predicted to reduce annual energy consumption, resulting in estimated savings of approximately $15,000 AUD per annum.
