CBRE achieves 56.5% source energy improvement with Integrated Environmental Solutions

The customer, CBRE, faced the challenge of quantifying and optimizing energy performance for a new R&D facility in Sweden to meet stringent LEED v4 certification requirements. They needed to accurately model complex HVAC systems and ensure modeling transparency for USGBC review. Integrated Environmental Solutions provided its IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) software to address this challenge.

Using IESVE, CBRE implemented a comprehensive dynamic simulation modeling approach. Integrated Environmental Solutions' solution enabled detailed analysis of the building design, including a key simulation of chiller condenser heat recovery for domestic hot water. This resulted in a 56.5% improvement in source energy use and a 54.7% reduction in GHG emissions, which equated to achieving 14 targeted LEED points.
