A Integrated Environmental Solutions Case Study
The customer, California State University, Monterey Bay, sought to design a net-zero energy and water Recreation Center and Kinesiology Department as part of its campus-wide Living Community Challenge goals. Integrated Environmental Solutions provided its IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) software to help the architectural consultant, Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, model and optimize the unique design for this project.
Integrated Environmental Solutions' IESVE was used to model earth as thermal mass, optimize natural ventilation and daylighting, and incorporate features like solar tracking skylights and a green roof. The solution resulted in a design that would be both energy and water positive. According to a report, the building would save an estimated $930,000 a year in utility costs compared to the baseline.
