Bowmer + Kirkland, a main contractor for ESFA schools, needed to accurately validate the operational performance of their buildings but found that their existing reporting methods only provided limited data. They partnered with Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) and, using the iSCAN data analytics platform, identified previously undetected issues like equipment faults and abnormal energy use patterns.

Integrated Environmental Solutions implemented a solution using iSCAN to centralize and analyze granular, near real-time operational data from the schools. This data was then used to create calibrated models within their IESVE software, enabling effective benchmarking and active monitoring to close the performance gap. The collaboration won a CIBSE Building Performance Award and defined a new, standardized process with the potential to eliminate the performance gap entirely across similar building types.
