Aurecon - Customer Case Study

Aurecon used Integrated Environmental Solutions’ IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) to design 151 Cambridge Terrace in Christchurch, a six-storey office building with a fully glazed facade. The challenge was to balance the desired architectural look with energy efficiency, solar control, occupant comfort, and low running costs in a highly efficient commercial building.

Integrated Environmental Solutions helped Aurecon model energy, solar, and HVAC performance to optimize shading fins, glass selection, and mechanical systems. The solution reduced cooling loads by around 15–20% compared with the same facade without external fins, while also improving comfort and supporting the building’s award-winning, highly earthquake-resilient design.
