ASHRAE National challenged teams in the ASHRAE LowDown Showdown competition to model a new three-story, 53,600 ft² net-zero office building in Boulder, Colorado, while accounting for extreme climate swings now and 50 years into the future. Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) supported the team with its IESVE software suite to help evaluate design options and energy performance.

Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) and the team used IESVE to test 150+ energy conservation measures and select 25–30 coordinated strategies, including daylight harvesting, natural ventilation, thermal mass, high-performance envelope design, heat recovery, radiant floors, on-site renewables, and future-focused cooling measures. The solution earned the Best Energy Use Results category award, and the building concept was designed to remain net-zero even under 2064 weather conditions.
