Arup - Customer Case Study

Arup used Integrated Environmental Solutions’ IESVE software to support energy modeling and sustainability consulting for Nohona Hale, a high-performance micro-unit housing project in Honolulu. The challenge was to design affordable housing that could meet strict LEED Gold v4 goals while balancing occupant comfort, natural ventilation, and the high electricity costs of Hawaii’s climate.

Integrated Environmental Solutions helped Arup model the building’s complex design and optimize strategies such as natural ventilation, photovoltaic facade panels, solar thermal hot water, and daylighting controls. The result is a naturally ventilated 16-storey development on track for LEED Gold, with estimated energy cost savings 30% better than the ASHRAE baseline.
