AECOM achieves LEED Platinum with Integrated Environmental Solutions and cuts energy cost 40%

AECOM, a global infrastructure consulting firm, was tasked with designing the Golden 1 Center, a new indoor sports arena, to achieve ambitious sustainability goals, including LEED Platinum certification. To meet this challenge, they utilized the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) from Integrated Environmental Solutions for the project's LEED energy modeling.

Using the IESVE software, Integrated Environmental Solutions' solution enabled AECOM to model the arena's complex geometry, a novel displacement ventilation system, and a radiant floor. This allowed the team to accurately calculate energy savings. The result was the first indoor sports venue to achieve LEED Platinum certification, placing it in the top 3% of all LEED-certified buildings. The venue is 100% solar powered and achieved a 30% reduction in energy use over code requirements and a 40% reduction in energy costs.
