A distillery in Northern Italy sought to better understand its energy consumption and identify opportunities to reuse waste heat produced on site. To address this challenge, it worked with Integrated Environmental Solutions, which utilized its ICL digital twin technology and the iSCAN data analytics platform to create a centralized view of the facility's complex operations.
Integrated Environmental Solutions implemented a digital twin of the distillery, which was used to simulate and analyze potential improvements. This analysis identified that a waste heat exchanger could meet 5% of the site's heating needs and that solar PV could meet 4.1% of its electricity consumption. These interventions resulted in a 6.9% saving in CO2 emissions, with the waste heat exchanger having a financial payback of approximately 11 years.
