Wireless Seismic Drones, IoT, and Advanced Onsite Seismic Data Validation

Wireless Seismic, Inc., working with Total and Geokinetics, needed a faster way to validate data and receiver positioning from DART seismic receivers dropped by drones in difficult-to-access areas. To avoid gaps in survey data that could force costly repeat work, they turned to INT Software and its INTViewer product for field-based quality control and onsite analysis.

INT Software implemented INTViewer on a portable laptop so technicians could upload and inspect large acquired data sets in near real time. Using INTViewer’s Python extensibility, Wireless Seismic could convert and analyze non-seismic data as SEG-Y traces, quickly identify failed or missing data, and adjust acquisition plans immediately; this improved accuracy, reduced the risk of retaking surveys, and made the process up to five times more cost-effective and safer than traditional methods.
