Case Study: Equinor improves seismic imaging with INT Software’s INTViewer Velocity Scanning Plugin

Equinor, the integrated energy company, needed a better way to improve seismic imaging below salt and other hard-to-image structures. Working with INT Software, they explored how to combine scanning, picking, and velocity model updates into a single workflow using INTViewer and its Java plugin API.

INT Software delivered a Velocity Scanning plugin for INTViewer as a simple JAR installation, adding a wizard-driven process for loading migrated datasets, picking horizons, and calculating updated velocity models on the fly. Equinor uses the solution to process a 4,000 sq meter survey with 120 GB of seismic data, synchronizing 3 to 5 migrated datasets at a time and improving efficiency by only loading visible traces while interpolating velocity in real time.
