Cimarex, a Denver-based independent oil and gas exploration and production company, needed a Windows-based way to help interpreters solve exploration problems and handle complex post-processing R&D, while also enabling fast random access to large pre-stack SEGY data on the desktop. They wanted to avoid the high cost and data-conversion complexity of bulky, license-limiting systems, so they turned to INT Software and its INTViewer product.

INT Software implemented INTViewer with its Java-based plugin API, using the SeismicDataAdapter and Processing Plugin to support fast seismic data access and custom batch and interactive processing. The result was a flexible framework that let Cimarex build more than 32 proprietary applications, speeding exploration work and reducing post-processing requests to vendors, which saved both time and money.
