BHP Billiton partnered with INT to address a need for an integrated geological and geophysical viewer that would support data access and collaboration across networks. The global Geoscience Technology division of BHP Petroleum needed better seismic visualization and a flexible cross-section viewer to analyze reservoir simulation output alongside seismic and log data.

INT developed the Viewer using its Java-based J/GeoToolkit and professional services, creating a cross-platform, intranet-accessible application with no client-side administration. The solution met BHP’s functionality needs, reduced development cost to an estimated one-fifth of what a custom project would normally require, and provided an extensible framework that integrates with third-party tools and Seismic Unix for remote collaboration across BHP’s major exploration centers.
