University of North Texas launches first-of-its-kind learner record with Instructure

The University of North Texas (UNT) faced a challenge where its students, despite developing marketable skills, struggled to visualize and effectively communicate those competencies to potential employers. To address this, UNT partnered with vendor Instructure and utilized its Parchment Digital Badges platform to create a more comprehensive and verifiable record of student achievement.

Instructure's solution was the implementation of a first-of-its-kind Comprehensive Learner Record (CLR) that integrates with the Parchment platform. This digital record allows students to collect, stack, and share verifiable badges and micro-credentials that represent their skills. The solution provided students with a clear dashboard to visualize their progress and gave employers verifiable proof of competencies. Early evidence pointed to positive impacts on student persistence and outcomes, empowering graduates to better articulate their skills in the job market.
