A Instructure Case Study
Trinity Grammar School, an Anglican independent day and boarding school for boys in Summer Hill, Sydney with about 2,200 users, needed a modern learning management system to support its 1:1 (K–4) and BYOD (5–12) initiatives and provide remote access for student-athletes; the existing platform served mainly as a file repository. In 2014 Head of eLearning Helen Bremner chose Instructure’s Canvas to provide a web-based, intuitive virtual extension of the classroom.
Instructure rolled out Canvas to all teachers and students (and enrolled K–6 parents as observers) at the end of 2014, delivering cloud-based anytime/anywhere access, easier content creation, and faster grading via SpeedGrader. The Canvas implementation produced significantly higher uptake than the previous LMS, increased teacher confidence and efficiency, enabled online-only and eLearning courses, supports off-site learning at their field studies centre, and positions Trinity to extend Canvas to sporting teams and other co-curricular groups.
