Penn Harris Madison Schools - Customer Case Study

Penn Harris Madison Schools, a K-12 district in Indiana, was moving away from traditional textbooks toward a digital curriculum but faced a piecemeal online-learning environment with teachers using disparate free web tools. Seeking deeper student engagement, a device-agnostic solution, and seamless integration with existing systems like Windows and Google Apps, the district evaluated several LMS vendors and selected Canvas from Instructure.

Instructure’s Canvas was chosen for its clean, consistent interface, cross-platform compatibility, and integration with Google Apps; its social-media-like workflow and multimedia forums made it easy for teachers to adopt. Early results show rapid uptake—teachers enrolled 1,600 students before formal training and dozens of teachers are already using Canvas in class and running peer trainings—demonstrating increased teacher engagement and a strong foundation for districtwide rollout and ongoing staff development with Instructure’s platform.
