Oxford Saïd Business School - Customer Case Study

Oxford Saïd Business School, the University of Oxford’s business school, needed a more user‑friendly, robust virtual learning environment to replace its clunky homegrown VLE (WebLearn). After a 2017 trial, the school selected Canvas VLE by Instructure and adopted Construct (a joint service from Proversity and Instructure) to address poor accessibility, integration issues, and a congested interface.

Instructure implemented Canvas and Construct quickly and at scale: the initial Canvas rollout took 42 days and helped accelerate migration of 11 programmes (about 85 modules) in 28 days. Since adoption, IT service requests dropped by 80%, the system now supports roughly 1,000 new students per year (1,500 users on the platform), and the project finished on time and under budget—delivering a more intuitive, mobile‑friendly experience and expanded uses from pre‑admission to executive education.
