Our Lady of Mercy College - Customer Case Study

Our Lady of Mercy College, Parramatta, a girls' secondary school of more than 950 students, needed a modern, accessible and easy-to-use learning management system to prepare students for the digital workforce, personalize learning, and reduce teacher reliance on IT. Instructure’s Canvas cloud-based LMS was selected in 2016 to provide an intuitive, performance-driven platform that integrates with other tools via open APIs and connects teachers and students across devices, locations and subjects.

Instructure rolled out Canvas in stages during 2016, and by year-end 100% of students and 90% of teachers were using the system (with adoption expected to reach 100% of students and 95% of teachers by Term 1, 2017). Canvas delivered measurable benefits for Our Lady of Mercy College—earlier assignment submissions, time savings and flexible online marking for teachers, seamless Turnitin integration, stronger collaboration through online units and Professional Learning Communities, and improved focus on STEM and literacy—while extending use across departments and school administration.
