Case Study: Chemical Bank achieves a culture of leadership and scalable employee development with Instructure's Bridge

A Instructure Case Study

Preview of the Chemical Bank Case Study

Leadership Behaviors When Employee Development Becomes a Mindset

Chemical Bank, a Detroit-based bank with about 3,500 employees across 200+ Midwest locations, faced a cultural shift after an acquisition and needed to move beyond a compliance-heavy LMS to a scalable, skills-focused employee development and leadership program. To redesign leadership development, strengthen culture alignment, and give managers practical coaching tools, Chemical Bank selected Instructure’s Bridge platform (branded internally as ChemU) as the core learning and development solution.

Instructure implemented Bridge/ChemU as a one-stop hub—consolidating 38+ courses and resources, using Bridge Studio for rich media and accessibility, and adding tracking, 1:1 agendas, and coaching workflows to drive skills practice. The results included strong engagement and completion rates (non-officer required early completion 80%+, optional 83%; officer required early 93%; assigned live training 100%), a pilot that reduced turnover by 20% within a year (legacy program 37% → transition 23.94% → new program 3.28% YTD), 854 video views with 44 positive comments and 54 up‑votes, and measurable improvements in manager-employee development and program scalability.
