Innovative Digital Learning for Creative Digital Careers

The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE), Australia’s leading educator in 3D animation, game development and visual effects, had been running a self-hosted Moodle LMS since 2005 but found it dated and difficult for students and staff. In 2016 AIE chose Canvas from Instructure to provide a more intuitive, cloud-based learning platform that would simplify learning technology across its four Australian campuses, two U.S. campuses and established Online Campus.

Instructure implemented Canvas with cloud hosting, mobile access, built-in assessment tools and Canvas Discussions, enabling AIE to unify physical and online campuses, streamline large-file uploads and provide immediate text/audio/video feedback. Within weeks AIE restructured courses and templates for a projected 2,500 users; teachers adopted the system quickly, competency-based progressive assessments and compliance data became easier to capture, and student collaboration and engagement improved.
