Empowering a Culture Shift Through Innovative Learning and Development

RetireAustralia, a major Australian retirement-village operator, engaged Learning and Development Specialist Murray Humphrey to shift the organisation from a property-centric model to a people- and resident-centric culture. To support that change he adopted Bridge, the learning platform from Instructure, to implement a 70-20-10 learner-led approach and provide a scalable way to create content, engage learners and document competency across the business.

Using Instructure’s Bridge, RetireAustralia built learning pathways, drip‑fed bite-sized manager development content, and tracked participation and assessments across 27 villages, ~450 team members and 5,000 residents. Early results show strong adoption and social learning (70% of a target Smart Group interacting, versus a 75% system-usage goal), strict completion expectations for new hires (first five modules within seven days) and a three-year 100% positive training recommendation rate against a 90% benchmark, demonstrating measurable improvements in engagement and competency.
