A Instructure Case Study
DeKalb County Central United School District, an Indiana district serving over 3,000 students, sought to refine its educational technology practices and make more informed budget decisions. The challenge was a lack of sufficient quantitative data to support edtech decisions, which were previously based primarily on qualitative teacher feedback and student engagement. To address this, the district partnered with vendor Instructure and utilized its LearnPlatform and the IMPACT rapid-cycle evaluation engine.
Using Instructure's solution, the district was able to run a rapid-cycle evaluation on a specific math tool to measure its impact on student growth scores. The data revealed which grade levels showed the most growth, which were not meeting recommended usage, and that the tool had a strong positive effect on the district's lowest-performing students. These evidence-based findings allowed leadership to refine professional development, adjust licenses, and reallocate funds to more effective tools, leading to more data-driven edtech decisions.
