A Instructure Case Study
Selwyn House School, a leading independent girls’ school in New Zealand with 200 students and 20 teachers, faced an outdated LMS that was hard to navigate, lacked notifications and parent engagement, and didn’t work seamlessly across iPads and laptops. The school discovered Canvas (by Instructure) and chose the platform to better capture student learning, provide real-time parent information, and support a more digitally advanced, integrated curriculum.
Instructure rolled out Canvas across all year levels, integrating Google apps and enabling notifications, assignments, flipped-learning modules, and peer review workflows; within months Canvas was adopted by 200 students, their parents, and 20 teachers. The result: teachers shifted to richer, more personalised tasks with virtual feedback, students gained self-paced and reflective learning opportunities, and parent engagement increased through real‑time updates and a parent forum—delivering measurable uptake and improved engagement schoolwide.
