A Instructure Case Study
Brisbane Grammar School, an independent Years 5–12 school in Spring Hill, Queensland, wanted to replace its decade-old Desire2Learn LMS with a modern, cloud-based system to support a growing 1,800-user 1:1 program and evolving K–12 needs. After evaluating options and seeing a live demo, teachers selected Instructure’s Canvas for its simplicity, single-page workflow, Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) support and regular updates.
Instructure implemented Canvas across the whole school in 2018—about 1,700 students and 580 classes—using concurrent systems for training, Canvas Commons for resource sharing and access to the Canvas Community APAC for onboarding. The Canvas rollout unified curriculum delivery, improved equity across cohorts, increased use of assessment tools like SpeedGrader to save teacher time and streamline feedback, supported a staff professional learning hub and enabled easy third‑party integrations; overall, Instructure’s Canvas is now fully operational at Brisbane Grammar School with measurable reach and clear efficiency gains.
