Instil was hired by Pinnacle, a world-leading security camera company, to redevelop its Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS) software. The existing product had fallen behind competitors, presenting challenges in critical areas such as video redaction for privacy, system performance and scalability, user experience, and overwhelming support demands. Pinnacle needed a fresh start to set a new industry standard.

Instil delivered a fixed-price project using an agile approach, building a new cloud-based platform with a Spring/Kotlin backend on AWS and an Angular/TypeScript frontend. The solution resulted in a best-in-class user experience, significantly improved scalability to process over 5000 videos daily, and reduced operational costs. Instil successfully delivered the project on schedule, enabling Pinnacle to avoid license renewal fees and creating a serious value-add for their core camera business.
