Case Study: Kongregate reduces time-to-play by up to 50% with Instart Logic

A Instart Logic Case Study

Preview of the Kongregate Case Study

Kongregate Dramatically Cuts Time-toPlay by Up to 50% for Browser–Based Video Games

Kongregate, a GameStop division based in San Francisco that hosts over 70,000 browser games and attracts more than 15 million monthly visitors, needed to get players into gameplay faster to drive return visits and in‑game purchases. Despite standard web optimizations and a CDN, Flash-heavy titles and variable mobile/wireless connections kept time-to-play high, increasing bounce risk and limiting conversion.

Kongregate implemented Instart Logic’s Web Application Streaming to stream the critical parts of games first (often ~10%) and load the rest in the background. After shifting Flash traffic to Instart, time-to-play fell by about 50% on average (up to 90% for some games), bounce rates and load frustration declined, day‑one retention improved, and developers and players experienced noticeably faster, more responsive gameplay.
